Intifada: Israeli army killed more than 100 Palestinian children

Originally published

The Israeli army has killed more than 100 Palestinian children below 15 since the Al-Aqsa intifada flared up in the occupied territories eight months ago, said the ambassador of Palestine to Morocco Abu Marwane.

Abu Marwane disclosed the figures in a statement to MAP on the sidelines of the conference of Arab and African finance ministers, held in Marrakesh May 21-23, to prepare for the World Child Summit, due next September 19-21 at the United Nations headquarters in New York.

The Palestinian diplomat, who is taking part in the conference, called participants not to forget the ordeal of Palestinian children who are deprived of their right to life, schooling and even playing.

The Palestinian people are expecting the conference to launch an appeal to the international community to get involved in protecting Palestinian children. The conference is to adopt a recommendation on the protection of the Palestinian people against the Israeli aggression and we are expecting a decision in this respect, said Abu Marwane.

He stated further that the international community cannot keep silent on what is going on in the Palestinian territories where children have become the privileged target of the daily and barbarous aggressions launched by Israeli F 16 fighters.

He recalled the assassination of Mohamed Dourra, curling up near his father, and the assassination of four-month old baby Imane Hajji, saying these unbearable images that were screened by international TV channels have surely stirred the awareness of the international community which must act to protect the Palestinian people against Israeli aggressions and violation of human values and international conventions.
