Arab group at the UN meets today

Originally published

The ambassadors of the Arab group at the UN decided to convene a meeting today ( Tuesday) under the chairmanship of the Palestinian representative Zihdi al-Qidwa and the presence of the Tunisian ambassador Nour eddine Majdoub, the only representative of the Arab state, member at the UN Security Council to follow up the results of the American rejection of the demand of the UN Security Council to issue a decision ensuring international protection for the Palestinians.

Well-informed sources said that the timing for convening the meeting takes into account the timing during which it is expected that the Mitchell committee report for facts finding in the occupied territories was issued on Monday.

A high ranking Arab diplomat said that the UN Security Council will most expectedly hold a meeting on Thursday and Friday to discuss the tense situation in the occupied palestinian territories, which had witnessed a grave Israeli escalation in recent days.

The source stressed rejection of what described as "the Palestinian resistance by acts of violence, noting that this relates to legitimate resistance of the Zionist occupation."
