Tv chief promises genuine tv production industry

Originally published

The head of the Moroccan first TV channel TVM has promised a genuine TV production industry in three years.

"In three years, we would have contributed to setting up a genuine production industry," said Faycal Laraichi, who was interviewed by a local weekly.

He said that such an objective can be achieved only through overture onto the Moroccan reality.

TVM has always been under fire for its poor production and failure to meet the aspirations of its viewers. Increasing competition from 2M, another Moroccan channel, and from foreign and Arab channels, have compelled TVM's officials to reconsider the channel's policy and its rank in the audio-visual landscape.

Laraichi said he intends to take some risks to achieve this objective. He added that he is ready to assume these risks to be able to satisfy the viewers.

"We will come up with a good and an average production, but we are resolved to go to the end of our young experiment, whatever the cost."
