Int'1 support for Egyptian- Jordanian initiative exposes Israel's intentions
"The international support for the Egyptian -Jordanian initiative, including the support of the Non-Alignment Movement,(NAM) which met recently in Pretoria, South Africa, exposed Israel's real intention towards peace in the Middle East," said Palestinian Minister of Local Government Saab Erekat.
In statements to the Palestinian Satellite Channel, Erekat said the international support to the initiative unmasks the real face of the Israeli government, which seeks to introduce damaging amendments to the initiative in order to blow it up.
"The Egyptian- Jordanian initiative is a fruit of agreements signed previously between the Palestinians and Israelis on borders, release of Palestinian prisoners, returns of the refugees and halting violence in the Occupied Territories," said Erekat.
On the other hand, Secretary of the Palestinian Authority Cabinet Ahmad Abdul Rahman called for holding an Arab- European summit to look into the deteriorating conditions in the Palestinian territories and the US stance regarding the peace process.
The Palestinian official said that such summit would create a force to pressure the US administration to adopt a fairer stance towards the Palestinian Israeli conflict.
