Islamic trend, no source of concern in Morocco, official
The Islamic trend is neither a threat nor a source of concern in Morocco, The Moroccan Habous (Endowments) and Islamic Affairs minister said on Wednesday.
The Islamic trend is neither a threat nor a source of concern in Morocco in view of the Kingdom's peculiarities, which are different from those of other Arab and Islamic countries, Abdelkebir Alaloui Mdaghri told the London-based Asharq Al-Awsat daily.
The Islamic state, which is still a mere hope in other countries, is already established in Morocco, he said, adding "the King, in his capacity as Commander of the Faithful, is the first warrant of the implementation of the Sharia (Islamic Law) and the constitution includes provisions aimed at the protection of Islam in Morocco."
Mdaghri noted that several Arab and Islamic countries lack Morocco's peculiarities, as the constitutions of these nations do not vest their leaders with the mission entrusted to the Moroccan King (Commander of the Faithful).
