Mohammed V solidarity foundation discusses communication strategy for transit operation
Morocco's King Mohammed VI chaired Wednesday at the royal palace in Agadir over a working session of the Mohammed V solidarity foundation.
The session discussed the practical measures to be adopted by the foundation to inform the Moroccan expatriates who come back home for the summer holidays on the arrangements made to welcome them in Almeria and Algesiras (in Spain), and in Tangier, Sebta, Nador and Casablanca as well as at rest areas in Larache and Taourirt, the official spokesman for the Royal Palace, Hassan Aourid, said in a communique.
The Moroccan community settled abroad will be informed about these arrangements through leaflets, brochures, posters, as well as through the Moroccan radio, the two Moroccan TV channels, TVM and 2M, and a foreign radio. The related documents are put at the disposal of Moroccan expatriates in Moroccan consulates, the agencies of the carrier Royal Air Maroc and the branches of Moroccan banks abroad, the communiqu? said.
The working session was attended by foundation members, media representatives and representatives of the Moroccan community settled abroad.
On April 23, the king, who is chairman of the Mohammed V foundation, had issued instructions, at a meeting in Fez, to all concerned departments to guarantee good conditions to the Moroccan expatriates who come back home for the summer holidays.
The king urged the foundation members to coordinate action with concerned departments and stressed the need to "ensure security conditions" to the Moroccan nationals crossing the Spanish territory.
Last year more than one million Moroccans living abroad crossed the strait of Gibraltar on their way to spend holidays at home.
Moroccans usually embark from the Spanish southern ports of Algesiras, Almeria and Malaga to sail to the Moroccan northern cities of Tangiers and Nador and the Moroccan cities that are still under Spanish dominion of Melillia and Sebta.
About 2.3 million Moroccans are living abroad, 80 percent of them being Europe-settled.
