Originally published

The Greek foreign minister George Papandreau and his Tunisian counterpart al-Habib Bin Yahya on Monday expressed their concern over the situation in the Middle East. They welcomed the Jordanian- Egyptian initiative to put an end to "acts of violence."

The Greek foreign minister considered the Jordanian- Egyptian initiative as "good," noting that " it is a good base from which there can be a start towards what is called for by the whole world, which is to cease fire, halt the acts of violence and resume negotiations concerning the peace process.

Bin Yahya said that his country backs this good initiative to calm down conditions and to give peace a chance." The Greek minister said that he had discussed with his Tunisian counterpart bilateral cooperation relations especially in the military field. The Greek defense minister will visit Tunisia shortly.
