On Syrian- Palestinian coordination
The London- based al-Hayat daily said on Friday that new released signals asserted that the Palestinian Authority is serious in opening a new page of coordination with Syria and that Yasser Arafat will visit Damascus in a period of time not to exceed three weeks.
The chairman of the Palestinian council Salim al-Zanoun, who is in Tehran said in a statement to the paper that he had asked the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami during their meeting to confirm the Syrian- Palestinian coordination for a very important reason which is if Syria can restore back its occupied territories until June 4, 1967 lines, this gives the Palestinian side the might to call for restoring back Jerusalem to the June 4 border lines and also the West Bank without settlements.
Al-Zanoun said that returning back to security coordination between the Palestinian Authority and Israel will not be at the expense of the Palestinian opposition forces.
