Tile Draining pipes are locally manufactured, not imported

Egyptian Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Mahmoud Abu Zeid denied importing pipes for tile draining from Israel as they are manufactured in Egypt.

In a meeting of the economic committee at the parliament late Sunday, Abu Zeid affirmed that no foreign company is carrying out the establishment or the annual maintenance of tile draining projects.

The committee approved a loan in amount of LE 500 million for second phase of draining line signed by Egypt and the World Bank.

No foreign companies have won any tender for tile draining for 15 years due to the high quality of Egyptian production of tile draining pipes, said the Chief of the Tile Draining Authority Mohammad Fathi Hassan.

He added that there is a study on putting the seven companies working in that field for privatization.
