Egypt seeks greater Arab-Africa cooperation

Originally published

Egypt Wednesday called for activation of a standing Arab-Africa cooperation committee.

The Egyptian call was delivered by Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs Ibrahim Hassan, who leads the Egyptian delegation to the meetings of the committee.

In his speech, Hassan underlined the need for joint chambers of commerce, promoting participation in Arab and African funds and reaching an agreement for encouraging and protecting investments.

He stressed importance for coordination and integration among all regional economic blocs.

"Positive developments on the Arab and African arenas, such as creating the African Union and convocation of Arab summits on a regular basis, should be used to revive and boost Arab-African cooperation," Hassan said.
