Jordanian King: a retreat in the American position

The Jordanian King Abdullah II has stressed that the American position under the current US administration towards the ME peace process has receded backward.

In a statement to the London- based al-Sharq al-Awsat daily issued on Tuesday, the Jordanian king warned against leaving the Palestinians and the Israelis alone without the interference of the US in order to halt the confrontations, noting that there is great danger behind the escalation of the confrontation.

The Jordanian King, on the other hand, stressed the need of lifting the suffering of the Iraqi people and considered that the recent Arab summit has succeeded as it was held in an atmosphere of reconciliation The Jordanian King, on the other hand expressed his hope that the US will continue its role to find out a solution to the Arab- Israeli conflict, stressing the need that the international community will work for eliminating tension in the Middle East region.

In statements he made on Tuesday, the Jordanian King warned of the consequences of the continued tense situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.
