Sharm El-Sheikh understanding to be implemented right now
Egyptian Foreign Minister Amr Moussa underscored the importance of implementing Sharm El-Sheikh understanding to end the violence, currently on the rampage in the occupied Palestinian territories.
Replying to reporters' questions Moussa said that this would be the right start to halt the violence, adding that Israel had to withdraw its troops in accordance with agreements reached in Sharm El-Sheikh. "If Israel does not withdraw its forces, how come then the Palestinians are asked to stop their Intifada?" wondered Moussa.
He considered Israel's dubbing of the intifada as "violence" a means to play down the intifada of a people under pressure in occupied lands.
On reports aired on Egypt's call to hold a quadrilateral meeting soon comprising Egypt, Jordan, Palestine and Israel to deal with the current situation, Moussa answered in the negative.
Asked about the recent European criticism of Israel, Moussa noted that everybody criticized the situation in the occupied lands and the return to settlements building.
