Sudan denies arresting al-Turabi's wife

A Sudanese security source has denied what was stated on Friday by the Qatari al-Jazira satellite station on arresting Mrs. Wesal al-Mahdi, wife of Hassan al-Turabi, the secretary general of the People's Congress party who is being held in prison since more than one month.

In a statement to the Sudanese daily Akhbar al-Youm ( Today's news) issued on Saturday, the Sudanese source added that Mrs Wesal was not arrested on Friday following Friday's prayers and what happened was the security forces took certain ordinary measures towards certain women who violated the law and Mrs. Wesal tried to protest to these measures and she joined these women and claimed she was arrested.
