Deficit of trade balance down by LE 10 billion

The deficit in the balance of trade has dropped by LE 9.932 billion last year reaching LE 32.416 billion compared to LE 42.249 billion in the corresponding period in 1988. A monthly report by the Central Agency for Public Mobilization and Statistics (CAMPAS) said Egyptian exports also rose during last year to LE 16,328 billion compared to LE12,050 billion the previous year.

"Imports dropped in the same period by LE 5,752 billion from LE 54,299 billion in 1999 to LE 48.645 billion last year," CAMPAS Chairman Ehab Elwi said.
