UN chief confers with Iraqi officials in Amman

An official at the UN said on Tuesday that the Secretary general of the UN Kofi Annan discussed with Izzat Ibrahim who presides over the Iraqi delegation to the Arab summit in Amman and with the Iraqi deputy Premier Tarerq Aziz the UN sanctions imposed on Iraq since 1990.

A statement released by Annan's office said that very constructive talks were held on the question of the relations between Iraq and the UN and the issue pertinent to the current revision of sanctions.
