Israeli schemes against Syria and Lebanon
In its recent issue the al-Watan al-Arabi magazine issued in Paris said that the US under secretary of state for the Middle East affairs Edward Walker who recently visited Beirut unveiled an Israeli scheme against Lebanon and Syria in carrying out strikes to the Syrian military positions in the Bekaa plain and batteries of the long-range missiles installed by Syria along the borders with Lebanon and to convert Lebanon and the Bekaa into a " burnt area."
The magazine explained that Edward walker recommended the officials in Beirut and Damascus, especially President Bashar al-Assad to prevents all Israeli pretexts to carry out this scheme which might result in the collapse of the economy in Beirut and Damascus and then, also as a result, the collapse of the political systems in the two states by social revolutions carried out by the opposition forces in the two states.
The magazine noted that both the US and the European Union refused this frightening " Sharonian " ( by Sharon ) scheme and Colin Powell's warning of Ariel Sharon of this military adventure bombards all components of peace in the region.
The magazine stressed that because of this scheme the Syria military leadership has strengthened protection of its front positions in the Bekaa plain and established an advanced missiles system in al-Shouf area, especially in al-Barouk mountain, Tallet al-Radar and al-Mdereij surrounding area on the Damascus- Beirut highway in order to withstand all possibilities.
Circles close to Damascus told the magazine that these Syrian military reinforcement aim at immunizing al-Shouf district front, the influence area of the Lebanese parliament member Walid Junblat in order to prevent any moves from his side in that region.
The circles added that these Syrian military reinforcement in al-Shouf are coincided with intensive redeployment of the Lebanese security forces in the villages and towns of al-Shouf as from al-Damour until dear al-Qamer and al-Mukhtara in order to monitor any moves might be held by the Socialist Progressive party to confuse the state of Lebanon in the phase of the Israeli preparations to carry out the plan of changes in Lebanon, Syria and other countries of the region.
