Sharon in Washington, amid tightened Israeli repression

Originally published

In the course of its policy to tighten the siege imposed on the Palestinian areas, the Israeli forces started to rebuild the electric fence separating Gaza and the territories of 1948, of which great part was destroyed by the Intifada.

Meantime, the Israeli war ministry said that the Israeli army spends two million Shekel every day on acts of repression carried out against the Palestinians. The Israeli forces also prevented oil and its by- products to reach Gaza.

The Palestinian authorities called on Israel to lift its siege from the Palestinian territories and the Palestinians national forces warned against the misleading campaigns carried out by the Israeli media on lifting the siege and stressed that the International community has to know the heart of the matter on real developments taking place in the Palestinian territories.

Meanwhile, the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon left for the US on Sunday. In a statement before he arrived in Washington Sharon said that his visit falls in the course of fostering relations between Israel and the US in all fields and that he will brief the US President with latest developments and discuss the remarkable relations between Israel and the US.
