Al-Assad gets a message from the ruler of Kuwait
Syrian President Bashar al-Assad at the Damascus al-Shaab palace on Sunday received the first deputy premier and foreign minister in Kuwait Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and members of the accompanying delegation. Present at the meeting were the Syrian foreign minister farouk al-Shara and Kuwait's ambassador in Damascus.
The President got a message handed by Sheikh al-Ahmad from the ruler of Kuwait Sheikh Jaber al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
Talks dealt with the importance of revitalizing Arab solidarity and the need of coordination among the Arab states for providing the forthcoming Arab summit conference a success.
Talks also dealt with bilateral relations between Syria and Kuwait and issues of mutual concern.
Replying to questions put by journalists on the aim of his visit to Damascus and whether there are Arab efforts to maintain reconciliation between Iraq and Kuwait, the Kuwaiti foreign minister " I had the honor to convey a message from the ruler of Kuwait to President Bashar al-Assad from the ruler of Kuwait on bilateral relations and co-ordination on the forthcoming Arab summit conference in Amman."
On the possibility of reconciliation between Iraq and Kuwait the Kuwaiti foreign minister added " the reconciliation has preconditions and when these preconditions are fulfilled reconciliation will be made," noting that the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait had left bitterness not only in Kuwait but in the Arab nation as a whole.
The two foreign ministers also answered questions pertinent to backing Arab solidarity and developments in the region.
