Morocco to present bicameral experience in Nouakchott's conference
A Moroccan delegation from the chamber of advisors (upper parliament chamber) will be taking part this Feb.21-23 in an international conference on the bicameral system in Africa and the Arab states.
The Moroccan party will expound the Moroccan experience before representatives of Arab and African countries which adopted the bicameral parliament system.
The conference will probe the role of the bicameral system in consolidating democracy and decentralization and ensure a large representation likely to guarantee political, economic and socio-cultural stability.
A constitution amendment adopted by popular referendum in 1996 endowed Morocco with a second parliament chamber which unlike the house of representatives, is elected at indirect poll by electoral colleges of professional chambers, local councils and trade unions.
