Morocco's parliament denies it invited Spanish politician author of racist comments
The Moroccan house of representatives denied on Monday news circulated by the Association of Moroccan workers and immigrants in Spain that it had extended an invitation to a Spanish socialist politician who uttered anti-Moroccan racist comments.
"We were surprised and astounded by the association statement which contains erroneous and unfounded news" about the invitation, said the house speaker's office.
Local socialist congressman Rafael Centeno resigned after he admitted being the mysterious man caught on tape making racist comments on Moorish immigrants.
The man was heard on a news television station's videotape saying..."the Moors, to Morocco. That's where they should be." Centeno finally came forward on Thursday, breaking into tears at a news conference during which he sought forgiveness "for the damage I might have caused."
