Al-Turabi welcomes opposition not joining government in Sudan
The Sudanese People's Congress party which is led by Hassan al-Turabi has welcomed the decision of the al-Ummah party in not taking part in the Sudanese government except under set conditions especially in running new elections. The People's Congress party described this decision as good and in line with the visions and objectives of the people's congress party.
In a statement to the Sudanese daily al-Ayam published on Monday, the media secretary at the people's congress party Muhammad al-Ameen Khaleifa said that the government has to give the full opportunity for the parties which returned back to the country to organize their lines and arrange their conditions so as the competition will be fair and free.
Meantime, the Democratic Federation party led by Muhammad Othman al-Meirghani supported conditions put by al-Ummah party.
The leading figure at the party Muhammad Ismael al-Azhari said in a statement to the same Sudanese daily that the position taken by al-Ummah party is but a stand which " represents all of us and embodies total commitment." He expressed his hope that the coming phase will witness revitalization of coordination and cooperation committees in all fields between al-Ummah party and the opposition coalition.
