Arab boycott offices of Israel meet on April 22
The Damascus Arab League main office for the boycott of Israel has extended invitations for the regional Liaison officers from all Arab states to attend the meeting of the boycott offices in Damascus in April 22.
An official source at the AL general secretariat told the Syrian daily Tishreen in its today's issue that it has become a must to revitalize the boycott office and to bring back heat to it after being weakened and of low performance, noting that this situation was reached following the Madrid conference in 1991 when Israel succeeded in dismantling the sanctions imposed on its and its goods could reached many Arab states.
The source added that Israel was helped to this effect by the fact most Arab countries believed after the Madrid conference that peace has become nearby, while now after ten years of Madrid no real peace is achieved, rather the successive Israeli government, had reached the region into a very complex situation which threatens peace in the region and the world.
The said source praised the statements made by the Syrian foreign minister Farouk al-Shara in Amman on Sunday in which he called for the revitalizing of the Arab boycott of the Israeli goods. He indicated that al-Shara's call is a just and peaceful demand within the framework of the principles of the International Law.
The source unveiled that the boycotting office had previously extended invitations to convene a meeting for the Liaison officers but such a meeting was not held since 1993, when that last meeting for the boycotting offices was held.
The source expressed its hope that the coming meeting will attain the expected results especially as the economy is the pillar for all forms of power. He reminded that israel's losses of actual Arab boycott is estimated at more USD 4 billion.
