Kuwait to appoint a new oil minister
Political sources in Kuwait said on Thursday that it is expected that a new minister of oil will be appointed in the country after the Kuwaiti minister of oil Sheikh Saud Nasser al-Sabah had asked to be exempted from his post in which he stayed for three years.
The sources added that Sheikh Saud who is considered among the extremists concerning oil prices at OPEC has refused another ministerial post in the new government which is expected to be declared within few days. Sheikh Saud is a supporter for a controversial plan in permitting foreign oil companies to work in the Kuwaiti oil fields.
The sources continued that former president for the Kuwaiti oil company Khaled al-Fleij who has a long experience in oil industry is the first candidate to succeed Sheikh Saud.
At the meantime, al-Fleij works as an advisor for the Kuwaiti foreign minister Sheikh Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah.
