Qaddafi changes his mind towards showing documents for al-Miqrahi innocence
The Saudi daily al-Watan issued in al-Riyadh on Wednesday said that Syrian, Jordanian and Palestinian contacts had played a role in al-Qaddafi's refrain from showing the documents he owns which prove that Abdul Baset al-Miqrahi is not guilty in the Lockerbie incident where a trial has just concluded.
The paper added quoting well-informed sources that Libya's changing of its strategy just hours from the press conference al-Qaddafi held to show the information it has to prove al-Miqrahi innocence came as a result of Arab efforts, especially Syrian, Palestinian and Jordanian efforts through direct contacts held between the Libyan leadership and the leaderships of the three countries especially in regard of the documents needed from Syria over proving the involvement of split members from the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine- general command-. Libya was asked to ease down the tone of threats for finding out other legal efforts to salvage al-Miqrahi.
The sources told the paper that Syria has the documents on the role played by the General command and that Jordan refuses member of the Jordanian intelligence Marwan Khreisat to be brought before the court.
Khreisat had admitted for a German officer details indicate the manufacturing of five similar explosion equipments similar to that used in the explosion of the Pan-Am plane and that one of these five equipment disappeared before the Lockerbie incident while the German police found the other 4 equipment in the file of " autumn leaf " operation.
The paper added that the Libyan leadership had not deliberately accused the People Front For the Liberation of Palestine - general command- and this is because of the sensitive political and people position Palestine is passing at the meantime..
Al-Qaddafi had threatened to disclose facts proving that al-Miqrahi is not guilty.
