Moroccan party calls international community to release children sequestered by Polisario

Originally published

The Moroccan liberal party the Constitutional Union (UC/opposition) has called the international community and human rights activists to endeavor to free the children and young people being sequestered by the polisario separatists in Tindouf, south-western Algeria.

In a statement released at the end of a meeting of the UC political bureau last week and made public Monday, the party denounced the polisario repressive practices against children and young people who are detained as hostages in the Tindouf camps and who are submitted to all forms of exploitation.

The UC political bureau renewed mobilization behind King Mohammed VI to foil all plots hatched against Morocco and to confirm Morocco's legitimate right to defend its territorial integrity.

The UC statement also drew the government's attention to the new Spanish law on immigration which is, it said, "harmful to Moroccan immigrants settled in Spain" and stressed the need to help these immigrants and seek solutions guaranteeing their rights.
