Morocco hosts Arab childhood forum
Morocco will be hosting next February 15 an Arab childhood forum held by the Arab Childhood and Development Council and the Moroccan Observatory of Children Rights. The problem of homeless children, some 10 million in the Arab world, will top the agenda of the encounter.
The five-day meeting will be attended by several Arab and international figures, including Prince Talal Ibn Abdelaziz -chairman of the Council- and delegates of Arab and international non-governmental organizations, including Nelson Mandela -former South African president- Carol Bellamy -executive director of UNICEF (UN children's fund)- and Esmat Abdulmajid -secretary general of the Arab League.
Participants will also look into children's rights, the role of non-governmental organizations in addressing the issue and means to ensure better living conditions, education and health to Arab children.
The forum will examine the situation of Palestinian exiled children and Israel's treatment of Palestinian children.
