Originally published

An international symposium on translation of the meanings of the holy Quran, which was held in Tripoli, invited the mass media in the Islamic world to develop a specific program and hold regular meetings among Muslim Scholars and the public to help raise awareness of the issues of the translation of the meanings of the Quran.

The symposium held in the Libyan Capital, Tripoli, as part of cooperation among the Islamic Education, Science and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), the World Islamic Call Society (WICS) and the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), stressed the need for setting up an international center run by a multi-disciplinary team of Muslim Scholars for promoting the Quranic Science.

The symposium entrusted the three partners: ISESCO, WICS and IIIT with the working out of a joint program specialized in the Quranic Science and in the translation of Quranic meanings, to be conducted via internet.

In its recommendations, the symposium urged on mobilization of all means to fight attempts to alter the meanings of the Quran through translation.

Participants who presented papers on the two French translations of the Quran by Andre Chouraki and Jacques Berque, were invited to conduct in-depth research to report all corrections and revisions to the three organizing partners, so as to consider the opportunity of publishing that paper.

Further, the symposium urged the participants who have made complete translation of the meanings of the Quran to submit their works to the organizing parties to consider the possibility of their publication.
