Arab Muslim scholars message to President Bush

Originally published

Several Arab Muslim Scholars have stressed in a message they sent to the US President George Bush and published on Sunday in the United Arab Emirates UAE daily al-Itihad that the religious shrines are a red line that can not be approached and that Muslims will not give up these shrines regardless to sacrifices, noting " these shrines are integrated part of the doctrine of more than one billion Muslims in the world."

The message called on the US President to stand at least for one time, in the name of the American people, with the justness and called on the new US administration to reconsider the previous US administrations and to pursue with the beginning of the new century a new policy towards the Arab nation. A policy based on justice and equality.

The message stressed that the Arab nation will only restore back its complete rights through legitimate resistance for the rights and that repression will not last long.

The message was signed by several Arab and Muslim scholars, including the public Mufti in Syria Sheikh Ahmad Kiftaro, Jerusalem Mufti Ikramah Sabri, Egypt's Mufti Fareed Wasel; al-Azhar Sheikh Muhammad Tantawi, minister of justice and Islamic affairs in the UAE Muhammad al-Zaheri, the chairman of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization ALECSO Abdul Aziz al-Twiejari and the secretary general of the higher council for Islamic affairs Dr. Abdul Sabour Marzouq.
