Originally published

The London- based al-Hayat daily quoted its correspondent in Damascus as saying that he learnt from diplomatic sources that President Bashar al-Assad's visit to Turkey is still valid but its date is not fixed yet at a time when relations between the two countries are witnessing rapid improvement in various areas.

The sources explained that the Syrian- Turkish security committee held on Wednesday a meeting chaired by the Turkish General Eitash Palman and the chairman of the political security department in Syria Lt. Gen. Adnan Bader Hassan with the aim to review security relations between the two countries..

On the other hand, the Kuwaiti daily al-Anbaa said that a forthcoming visit by President Bashar al-Assad will be the first by a Syrian President since Syria's independence will be taken place shortly to Syria.

Well-informed sources in Damascus told the paper that a genuine détente has been made by the two countries, manifested in the intensive exchanged visits and signing several oil agreements.

The sources indicated that all these agreements will be beyond the accepted rate of co-operation between the two countries because of a military co-operation between Turkey and Israel still a controversial matter until now.
