UN mulls over development and energy
A series of meetings will be held soon to negotiate a draft document to be adopted by a UN committee on sustainable development and energy. World energy and environment ministers and representatives of non-governmental organizations will huddle together at the committee's meetings to be held in New York.
During the meetings, Egypt will highlight its successful plan to encourage the private sector invest in electricity and energy ventures, said Ahmed Abul Gheit, Egypt's chief delegate to the UN.
"Egypt will demand that any international negotiations should heed the interests of the developing countries and their right to have their energy needs fully met," he added on Sunday.
