First Lady Mubarak observes Innerwheel day

Originally published

Egypt's First Lady Suzanne Mubarak, the Honorary Chairperson of Innerwheel Egypt, on Thursday said that this year will see more than one event to prove our drive towards developing the situation of women in society.

In a word, delivered at a ceremony held at the Air Force House on the occasion of the International Innerwheel Day, Mrs. Mubarak said that the National Council for Women will hold a general conference on March 16 to celebrate the Egyptian Women Day besides holding preparatory meetings for the extraordinary Arab Women's Summit in Morocco in November.

"The National Council for Women (NCW) is an independent body that suggests the general policy for the society and its constitutional institutions on women's development issues," she said.

The Council, she added, works on advancing the role of women economically and socially, merging the feminist efforts in the society development programs, and expressing opinions as regards women-related laws and agreements.

Mrs. Mubarak said that NCW is taking confident steps and has started in collecting data and information about women, working out researches, and organizing courses to deepen awareness over women rights and duties.
