Yemen's president and Clinton's Plan
The Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has renewed his backing for the Palestinian Intifada in the Palestinian territories and he denounced any new agreements outside the course of the international legitimacy resolutions.
In remarks to the plan debated by the US President Bill Clinton for final settlement to the situation in the Palestinian territories before the end of his term of office on January 20, the Yemeni President said in a statement to the press that new agreements outside the international legitimacy resolutions will not succeed.
The Yemeni President who was speaking at the inauguration of the Yemeni armed forces conference, added " we do back a complete and comprehensive peace process in the course of international legitimacy and renew our backing to al-Aqsa Intifada so as the Palestinian people will restore their legitimate rights and peace and security and stability are restored in the region.
Saleh reiterated the call to send international forces to protect the Palestinians from the war conducted against them by the Israeli forces. He also called on the US to reconsider its position towards this question and to embark on correct criterion away from the double- standard policy. He explained the UN forces were sent to Kosovo, Bosnia and the East Timor while the Palestinian people have been exposed to besiege and killings by the Israelis and the international community has not made any gesture to this effect.
