Tight siege disrupts study at Gaza colleges
The tight siege enforced by Israel in Gaza strip disrupted studies at Gaza governmental education college.
All four branches of the college closed down on Wednesday as students and staff in Gaza, Muftaraq Al-Shuhadaa, Deir El-Balah And Khan Younes were unable to get to their destinations. Faculty chairman Dr Yousif Abu Diyya described conditions at the faculty as "extremely difficult" due to the siege, adding this semester which was already prolonged for another month, could be extended for another two weeks at least if these conditions persist.
Head of the education department at the college, Dr Salah El-Deen Hammad said closing Al-Shuhadaa crossroad and "Al-Bahr" road prevented him and many others from getting to the college. Regular study was impossible as students could not get to classrooms, workshops, and different labs. The siege also made it difficult to bring some equipment to the computer labs. Many students say their studies are hampered by the psychological effects of the ongoing Israeli random bombardment against unarmed citizens, also affecting college facilities.
