Originally published

Moroccan minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, left this Saturday Cairo where he took part in the extraordinary session of the Arab summit follow up committee.

The committee, set up by the Arab summit held last October in Cairo, comprises the foreign ministers of Egypt, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia and Bahrain.

According to Arab diplomatic sources in Cairo, the session held behind closed doors, heard a presentation by Palestinian President Yasser Arafat on the Clinton plan to re-launch the middle east peace process. Arafat also briefed the committee on talks he held in Washington with the US chief executive and the Palestinian reservations on Clinton's proposals.

The foreign ministers did not publish any communique at the end of their session.
