The foreign minister of the United Arab Emirates UAE Rashed Abdullah al-Nu'eimi has announced that a three- member committee composed by the Gulf Cooperation Council of the Arab Gulf states to settle the conflict with Iran over three islands will submit a report to the leaders of the Gulf states in their summit to be held in Bahrain by the end of this month.

In a statement quoted by the Gulf News agency on Friday, al-Nu'eimi expressed the UAE hope of having a positive Iranian response to settle the conflict. This statement was broadcast by Bahrain's TV on Friday evening.

He added that the GCC tripartite committee in charge of settling the border disputes was so far not accepted in Iran to find out the proper atmosphere for initiating a dialogue between the two sides.

He continued: " we have great expectation even one hour before convening the summit if there will be a correct assessment and evaluation of conditions and a sincere desire by the Iranian side to maintain a cooperation based on common interests." He continued " Even before one hour of convening the summit there might be a situation that will lead to further stability and more cooperation."
