Unemployment drops by 0.9 point in july-sept. 2000

The number of unemployed persons nationwide reached 1.45 million in July-Sept 2000, marking a small decline compared to the figures of the same period of 1999 when 1.53 million were unemployed.

According to the ministry of economic forecasts and planning, unemployed rate in Morocco dropped by 0.9 points from 15.1 % to 14.2%. The drop was higher among men.

Unemployment in cities regressed from 23.4% to 22.4% while in rural areas it went down from 6.1% to 5.3% in the same period.
