Kuwait stands against the idea of Russian Gulf security system
A high ranking Kuwaiti official on Saturday said that the idea of the Gulf "security system" with the participation of Iraq and Iran, said to be promoted by Russia is " born dead."
In a statement to the Kuwaiti daily al-Rai al-Am issued on Saturday on the eve of the arrival of the Russian foreign minister Igor Ivanov to Kuwait on Saturday, the official commented on information saying that Ivanov is campaigning a proposal to establish a Gulf security system with the participation of both Iraq and Iran.
The official source explained that it is impossible for the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council who are in full harmony, politically, socially and historically to cooperate within one system with regimes do not comply with. He asserted that the Iraqi regime, in particular is not qualified for any sort of cooperation.
He added that this idea was only advocated by the media so far and that this falls in the course of feeling the impulse, noting that this idea was born dead and can not be implemented.
He stressed that it is not possible to have at the same time an American security system ( networking) and another one Russia.
