Mad-cow disease prevention measures assessed

Morocco's Health minister Thami El Khyari chaired in Rabat a meeting to assess government action to prevent import into the kingdom of mad-cow disease (ESB).

The meeting also surveyed the monitoring network to be deployed nationwide for sanitary follow-up and early detection of cases or pathologies associated with the Creutzfeld-Jakob disease, says a release of the health department.

Experts attending said not a single case of ESB variants was reported in the last ten years in the country.
