Iraq and Iran continue to improve relations

Originally published

Iraq's deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz has expressed hope that relations will be improved between Iran and Iran on the ground of good neighborliness and the principles of the international law.

In an interview with the Monte Carlo radio on Saturday, Aziz added that the visit of the Iranian foreign minister Kamal Kharazi to Iraq was successful "we do hope to have a serious work achieved on the ground we talked about during that visit," he said.

Aziz indicated that UN resolution 1284 issued by the UN Security Council is rejected by Iraq because it gives no solution and perpetuates the situation, namely the sanctions imposed on Iraq and " therefore any thing resulting from this resolutions is rejected."

He reiterated Iraq's call to lift the sanctions imposed on it.
