Moussa stresses Israeli troops pullout
Egypt's Foreign Minister Amr Moussa said that the Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian lands will help pacify the situation and re-build the peace process in a more credible way.
Answering reporters' queries, Moussa voiced hope once-again that deteriorating situation would not reach a vicious circle.
" On expectations from Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat's visit to Washington at US President Bill Clinton recent invitation, Moussa said it is important that such meeting takes place because the United States remains the sponsor of the current peace process.
"Things should be reasonably reconsidered in order to shore up a peace process acceptable to all parties, and that could lead to the required results," said Moussa.
On Israeli Premier Ehud Barak's adoption of a policy of threats and orders to Arafat, Moussa said this language is now futile because nobody fears anybody, adding all are watching the Palestinian youth who are not balking at the israeli war machine.
"The Palestinians want their rights," Moussa stressed.
"The only thing that would appease the situation is the return to the logic that calls for a just balanced peace and for credible negotiations and settlement of the problems contained in the final status agenda, otherwise things will not calm down," he said.
On rejection by some countries to participate in the Islamic summit in Qatar before the latter severs its relations with Israel.
Moussa said that there are several demands but there are also frustration and an inclination to make positive moves towards peace.
"All matters eventually depend on developments of the situation in the occupied lands," said Moussa.
