Originally published

The Iraqi airlines establishment on Sunday resumed its internal flights which were suspended since 1990 because of the air embargo imposed by the US and Britain on Iraq. This Iraqi decision, as announced by Baghdad, came as a defiance to the two " no fly zone" imposed by Washington and London.

Iraqi official sources said that two planes for the company of " Elution " Type took off on Sunday from Baghdad's international airport and one of them headed for al-Basra in the South and the other to al-Mousel in the north.

The Iraqi deputy prime minister Tareq Aziz on Sunday denied the US claims on the dangers constituted by the Iraqi anti-craft means against internal flights in Iraq.. he said in statements to pressmen that these claims are a flagrant falsification that can be recognized every specialist in the area of civil aviation.

Meantime, The Iraqi minister of transport Ahmad Murtada Ahmad told journalists before the two planes took off " we are free in our lands and airspace and there is no UN resolution which bans flying over Iraq."
