On Khatami's visit to Lebanon

The Kuwaiti daily al-Anbaa on Sunday quoted well-informed diplomatic sources as saying that the visit of the Iranian President Muhammad Khatami to Lebanon is dependent of several internal issues, adding that conditions surrounding this visit concerning the situation in Lebanon helps the visit to be made.

The paper added that the Iranian deputy foreign minister Muhammad al-Sader discussed during his visit to Beirut with the Lebanese officials the question of the Islamic summit due to be held in Doha and he proposed Iranian ideas to form a Lebanese- Iranian and Syrian atmosphere that constitutes an important axis at the Islamic summit to withstand the proposals which incline towards being moderate, flexible and to preserving the march of settlement in the Middle East.
