Secretary of the Libyan general people's committee, Mbarek Abdallah Echamekh, left Morocco on Friday night at the end of a three-day visit.

During his stay in Morocco, the Libyan official co-chaired with Moroccan premier, Abderrahmane Youssoufi, the 5th session of the high joint commission and was received by King Mohammed VI.

Morocco and Libya signed two agreements to encourage investments and cooperate on environment preservation. The two north African countries also set up a follow-up committee that would meet every six months to work for the deepening of bilateral cooperation and ease contacts between the two countries.

Upon leaving the Casablanca airport, the Libyan official, who was accompanied by an official delegation, described as "frank" talks held in Morocco and noted that the goals set by the two countries cannot be achieved in the absence of Arab unity.

He also recalled the Libyan leader initiative to set up an Arab-African union to be proclaimed next March and added Moroccan officials support all aspects linked to the Arab Maghreb Union and the Arab-African space.
