Al- Hariri: relations with Libya are normal
The Libyan ambassador to Lebanon Ali Mahmoud Maria has quoted the Lebanese prime minister Rafik al-Hariri as saying that Lebanon sees that "relations with Libya are normal and should be relations of amity and respect."
Following his meeting with al-Hariri before he left back home to Libya after he was summoned by the Libyan authorities, ambassador Maria said " We had discussed relations between Libya and Lebanon and means of eliminating the small tension on the hope that matters will be settled and returned back to normalcy." He added he will leave Beirut at the meantime for Libya and " from there ( Libya ) we will follow up measures to facilitate settling this problem.
However, as the Lebanese parliament did not extend the invitation to the Libyan ambassador to attend the first session of the new parliament and other activities and events run by the parliament, resulted in Libya's opposition and summoning up the Libyan ambassador in Beirut.
