Moroccan Jews committed to peace

Originally published

The Council of the Israelite Community in Morocco (CCIM) voiced consternation over the abortion of peace and expressed commitment to peace in the Middle-East.

"We share the Moroccan people's consternation over the abortion of peace. We cry the victims. We live under the shock of the images of violence and disproportionate repression," the Council said in a release.

"Despite our pain and anger, we continue to share the feelings of all those (…) who remain faithful to the option of peace," the council said, adding that peace remains " the sole and unique solution, but not any kind of solution."

Such peace, the Council said, should guarantee to the Palestinian people a state endowed with a viable and homogeneous territory with the sovereignty based on the principle "peace for territories." This, the Council added, should also "help Israel obtain safe and recognized borders, something that the Palestinians alone can assure."

"Two states would have their capital cities in Jerusalem and Al-Quds, fraternally united within the respect of the holy sites of the religions of Abraham," the Council said.
