Suicide operation against the Israeli occupation in Gaza

The Israeli tanks and for the fourth successive day bombarded Beit Jala town, near occupied Jerusalem and heavy losses were inflicted in several houses.

Meantime, a Palestinian young man on Thursday carried out a suicide operation. He detonated an explosive in a military position for the Israeli forces in Gaza and the Islamic Jihad movement claimed responsibility for the operation.

Meanwhile, two Palestinians were killed and other 17 wounded by the Israeli soldiers fires and one Israeli soldier was injured.

On the political level and concerning negotiations between the Palestinians and the Israelis, Dany Yatoum the political advisor at the divan of the Israeli prime minister Ehud Barak said that Barak will not head for Washington next week to meet with the US President unless he will make sure that the Israeli- Palestinian confrontations in the Palestinian territories will come to an end.

Detailed Israeli military sources said that a young Palestinian on his bike detonated an explosive near a military position at the crossroad of Kfar Daroum settlement near Khan Yunis. The operation resulted in wounding one Israeli soldier and the killing of the Palestinian youth.

The commander of the southern region at the Israeli army admitted this operation.

Meantime, reports today indicate that 4 Palestinians were killed by the Israelis. US President Bill Clinton said today that efforts are continuing to get the Palestinian and Israeli leaders to meet in Washington. Clinton said "There has to be much lower level of violence before they can meet." He added that he is working on this issue saying "I am very frustrated."
