Iraq on the Arab summit: we need to integrate resources
Iraq's foreign minister Muhammad Saeed al-Sahaf has stated that what was agreed at the extraordinary Arab summit is much less than what Iraq called for.
In an interview with the Orient radio on Tuesday, al-Sahaf said: " we have lived for two decades under what is called the need to resort to the peaceful solution to the Arab Israeli conflict." He explained that all attempts made under the slogan of the peaceful solution were but a repression, humiliation and a confiscation of Arab rights, while the Arab governments who preferred peaceful solution, still give unreal explanations to what is going on and the result is that the situation is exploding at the time being."
He added that the Iraqi delegation to the Arab summit explained in the close- door session what does " al-Jihad " strategy means as proposed by Iraq, to integrating Arab potentials and invest them in the interests of the Arabs and their rights.
He remarked that a vague " proposal was debated at the summit to break the siege imposed on Iraq" and " therefore we asked the summit to dedicate efforts only for the Palestinian question in order not to be said that Iraq has dispersed the works of the summit."
On the arrival of Arab and international planes to Iraq to break the siege imposed on it, al-Sahaf said " these flights are private and are non regular governmental ones," noting concern that western states will try to break this siege before the Arab states." He indicated that a warm, friendly and frank meeting was held between the Iraqi delegation and the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, noting that the meetings on the sideline of the summit were good.
