PLO appeals the Pope to halt Israeli aggressions against the Palestinians
The PLO representative in Italy Nimr Hammad said that Palestinian President Yasser Arafat extended an appeal to Pope John Paul II to interfere for halting the Israeli aggressions against the Palestinian people.
News reports said that Hammad said on Monday that there is an urgent need for an international intervention for halting the continued Israeli aggressions since four weeks, resulted so far in killing more than 128 Palestinians and wounding thousands.
Meantime, the secretary of the Palestinian government Council Ahmad Abdul Rahman has urged the Vatican and the international community to condemn the Israeli aggressions.
Abdul Rahman called for unmasking the false face of Israel and its occupation and aggressions against the Palestinian people.
