Morocco's ambassador to Qatar resumes mission in Doha

Originally published

Morocco's King Mohammed VI gave instructions that Morocco's ambassador to Qatar resumes his mission in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The royal instructions were issued after a meeting the sovereign held with the Emir of qatar, Sheikh Hamad Ben Khalifa Al-Thani, Saturday evening in Cairo where the two leaders were taking part in the Arab emergency summit.

Morocco recalled its ambassador to Doha, Mohamed Ben Larbi Dilai, for consultation last July, explaining the decision was made after "having lately noted with amazement and regret the various (anti-Moroccan) stands and attitudes adopted by the brotherly country of Qatar, both at the political and at the media levels."

A well-informed Moroccan source had then said the decision was made in response to Qatar's persistence to run counter to Moroccan interests and to its negative stands within international and regional organizations.
