Volkswagen projects to invest in Morocco
The German car manufacturer Volkswagen is projecting to invest some 150 million DH ($13.63) in Morocco in a project to manufacture electric cables, reported Moroccan weekly La Nouvelle Tribune in its latest release.
Quoting sources from the Moroccan department of industry, the weekly said the investment dossier had been examined and approved, but Volkswagen has not yet released its final decision. According to the weekly, the plant will probably be set up in the northern city of Tangier.
The project will create between 1,200 and 1,500 jobs.
Another world giant car manufacturer, General Motors, is also operating, through its branch Delphi, a car cable unit in the Tangier free trade area.
